Laboratory Thermoforming Machines

These extremely versatile Laboratory Thermoforming Machines can be configured to meet any laboratory application, be it roll-fed materials or sheet-fed applications for vacuum or pressure thermoforming. The standard laboratory thermoforming machine is a vacuum thermoformer with an up-moving platen, vacuum and air eject systems.

Laboratory Prototype Thermoformer

Laboratory Thermoforming Machines can be used to perform a variety of functions including producing sampling blisters, trays, formed parts, pre-production samples for use in laboratory experiments. By adding the various available options these thermoforming laboratory machines can be configured with both top and bottom moving platen and controls to accomplish all forming techniques including pressure forming, vacuum snap back, bubble immersion, etc. The heating, pressure or vacuum is controlled with the touch screen HMI and has validation capabilities for pharmaceutical applications or when precision repeatability and tracking is critical. These units are available with large form areas ranging from 14 inch by 15 inch all the way up to 30 inches by 36 inches as standard.

How these Laboratory Thermoforming Machines work: The laboratory thermoforming machine when equipment with all the options, operates as follows: The plastic material is placed in the clamp frame and the clamp frame is locked, the two-hand start buttons are depressed (to initiate the timer controlled automatic cycle), the clamp frame moves back into the heater area, heat cycle is timed, clamp frame moves back into the forming station, the top and bottom rams (with tools mounted to them) moves into the sheet (speed control of the rams is used to determine which ram will meet the plastic sheet first), the part is formed. A cool cycle begins, the platens retract, blow off, and the finished formed part may then be removed, and the process repeated.

This video demonstrates various thermoforming machine applications which include the following examples: The Heavy Gage Thermoforming Machine producing trays from thick sheets of thermoplastic. A close-up of the General Purpose Thermoforming Machine with vacuum forming option. A High-Speed Inline Pressure Thermoforming Machine producing large format plastic sink inserts. This machine is operating at very high efficiencies and creating a product that could not be produced by most other machines available on the market. All of these machines made in America and feature heavy-duty construction and state of the art controls.
