How a Automatic Bottle Cap Feeder Works:
Bottle cap feeding to automatic bottle capping machines start with dumping bulk caps into the hopper. To make feeding the hopper easier, low level and high level hoppers are available for bulk caps to be dumped either automatically or manually. Caps can be manually dumped from small boxes into the supply bin, or can be fed from of one our optional gaylord dumpers. The gaylord dumper can be connected to the bottle cap unscrambler' s controls for automatic dumping when the unscrambler sensors call for cap, or the dumper can be manually operated with a simple lever that controls up and down. Caps in the hopper are then picked up on specially machined cleats attached to the elevator belt. The angle of the belt as it rises out of the bin determines the pickup capacity of each cleat (0-100%). Caps are accepted onto the cleats in one of two directions (open side out or in). As the elevator belt rises out of the hopper bin, its angle changes to almost vertical. Caps with the open side out fall back into the bin because the majority of their weight is outboard on the cleat. Caps with open side in have their weight inboard causing them to lay against the cleat so these caps continue on to the top of the sorter. Near the top of the sorter, high volume low pressure air generated by a blower system on the unit, blow caps to one side of the cleat and exit the machine in an escapement to a twist track. The twist track moves the now oriented bottle cap to the customers capping machine where they will be inserted on to the bottle.
Why this type of "Waterfall" Bottle Cap Feeder is better than a "Rotary Type" of Cap Feeder:
Changeover of this Bottle Cap Feeder has been simplified:
Changeover between one size round cap and another only requires an simple adjustment of our "Negative belt angle adjustment device" located on the side frame of the machine. This device allows adjustment of the belt angle pickup between 1 and 5 degrees. This can be done on the fly while the machine is in motion. The same cap chute can be used on similar caps of different sizes as long as the cap does not "shingle" in the chute. This probability is determined when caps are submitted for examination. Generally speaking, the bigger the difference in the caps diameter and or height, the more unlike it will be that one chute will service the two caps. In this case, as second chute is provided as a change part.
